The Vertiflex Superion device is an interspinous spacer implant for lumbar stenosis. Superion is backed by 5 years of clinical evidence whereby CMS provided category 1 CPT coding to support its use. Below are a few details on the procedure as well as several attachments, but the procedure can be one or two levels between L1-L5, where each level takes about 15-30 minutes depending on experience. The device bridges the treatment gap between a failed lumbar ESI and a more invasive procedure like a laminectomy. The procedure removes no bone or soft tissue, and is completely reversible, leaving the patient with a virgin spine if they require a more invasive procedure in the future.
