Paul J. Hubbell, III, M.D.

Paul J. Hubbell, III, M.D. graduated from Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. He completed a General Surgery internship at the VA in Des Moines, Iowa followed by a residency in Anesthesiology and Pain Management at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota.

He is board certified in Anesthesiology and Interventional Pain Management. Dr. Hubbell is a diplomat for the American Board of Interventional Pain. He has served as the president of the Society of the Interventional Pain Physicians of Louisiana.

He has authored chapters in Pain and Anesthesiology textbooks. He has served as an investigator in clinical trials focusing on pain care technologies.

Donald E. Richardson, M.D.

Donald E. Richardson received his M.D. from Tulane University School of Medicine, New Orleans, Louisiana. He completed his Neurosurgical residency at Tulane as well. Dr. Richardson was board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery and became a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He remained at Tulane as Professor for the school of Medicine until he started a private neurosurgical practice. He later was a clinical Associate Professor at the LSU Scholl of Medicine –Neurosurgery. Dr. Richardson served as the Director of the Hotel Dieu Hospital Pain Treatment Center. Upon the close of the pain center, he returned to Tulane as Professor and Chairman of the department of Neurological Surgery. He was the Program Director of the Tulane Neurosurgery Residency training program until 2010. He then joined the team of providers at Southern Pain and Neurological.

Dr. Richardson is interested in functional and stereotactic neurosurgery and pain management. He is a pioneer in the field of brain stimulation for the treatment of chronic pain.

Dr. Richardson belongs to several societies, among them the American College of Surgeons, American Pain Society, American Society for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery and the World Society for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery, Association for Academic Surgery, International Association for the Study of Pain, the International Neurosurgical Society, Research Society of Neurological Surgeons, Royal Society of Medicine in London, and the European Society for Functional Neurosurgery. He has 55 publications in the general literature.

Barry F. Faust, M.D.

Barry F. Faust received his medical degree at the LSU Medical School. He then continued training with an internship in General Surgery and residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. Dr. Faust continued to further his medical training with a fellowship in Pain Medicine at Indiana University in Indianapolis, Indiana. He is Board Certified in both Anesthesiology and in Pain Medicine.  He has since returned to Louisiana to practice Interventional Pain Medicine.

Melanie Mire, MHS, PA-C

As a graduate of Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology, Melanie Mire continued her education at the University of South Alabama where she earned a Master of Health Science Degree in Physician Assistant Studies.

Since Melanie's graduation, she has enjoyed her employment for the last 14 years as a Certified Physician Assistant with Southern Pain and Anesthesia providing interventional pain management services.

To remain on the forefront of technological advances in the diagnosis and treatment of chronic pain syndromes, Melanie regularly participates in in-depth pain management conferences with her colleagues from across the country and consistently stays updated with her continuing education. She enjoys the daily challenges and rewards she receives assisting her patients with all of their pain needs. Melanie prides herself on providing empathy and compassionate care to all of those that are burdened by chronic pain.

Melanie has been happily married to her husband, Drew, for 14 years and they have been blessed to be the parents of three wonderful, healthy, and active young boys ages 6, 10, and 12 years of age. Their family enjoys outdoor activities and spending time together.

Melissa Brower, MPA, PA-C

Melissa received her undergraduate degree in Biology with a minor in Biochemistry from Duquesne University. She obtained her Masters of Physician Assistant, also from Duquesne University.

After graduating she worked in Internal Medicine, Physical Medicine and Rehab and Rheumatology but discovered her passion was in Pain Medicine. In 1998 she joined the practice of Dr. Paul Hubbell as one of the pioneer PA’s in Interventional Pain Management in Louisiana.

Melissa, originally from Pittsburgh, thoroughly enjoys the culture of New Orleans and is a participant in several organizations. In addition to these organizations, Melissa also volunteers with the New Orleans Bulldog Rescue effort.
